Mackinac State Parks (Fort Michilimackinac)

Having worked at Fort Michilimackinac, the historical interpreters/volunteers do a great job of making an impression on visitors as they're knowledgeable in their fields. For most families that come through in the summer that places like the soldier's house where an interpreter shows how bread was made or the fur traders house where an interpreter would show different games or talk about the economics of the trade. In these active ways where there are people on staff in uniform to answer questions, it makes the experience even better for the patrons where they avidly learn. Then there are the different programs that also help like the musket, cannon and mortar demonstrations which are always favorites among visitors as everyone enjoys explosions. Plus the programs where the historic oven is used or the garden tours where a group can follow an interpreter through the fort to explore the numerous different plants that are in the fort that would've been planted there. These programs significantly help the visitor to better understand life at the fort as well as form a closer relationship with the colonial era people who had lived there. Both the interpreters and the programs that are put on are better at communicating the life of a soldier than any plaque or exhibit could which overall helps the visitor have a more knowledgable/fun experience.
