Castle Museum of Saginaw

I visited the Castle Museum of Saginaw a few weeks back and was surprised at the volume of history surrounding the city of Saginaw. Their outreach programs are wonderful, they work with the city of Saginaw every year to help take back run down areas such as abandoned houses and buildings. They help clear the area of debris and garbage and then they plant wildlife that gives back to the community in multiple ways. They also have a museum club program that meets once a month; this promotes the interaction between the people of Saginaw and the museum. Their accessibility could use some work but there are also some great things already in place! It is very easy to find the entrance; they have signs everywhere that direct where to go. However, once inside it can be confusing, because you have walk through a few exhibits before you reach the front desk to pay the $1 admission fee. They do however have very good wheel chair accessibility, with ramps at the entrances as well as an elevator to go to the top floor and basement. The let down is that there are many narrow hallways and tight turns in some areas of the museum that would make it very hard for handicapped or wheel chair bound persons to navigate.
